I know exactly what it feels like to give everything on the pitch and still get ignored.
Before I signed my first professional contract in 2011, I went through over 10 failed trials. I trained every day, scored goals, even bagged a hat-trick once but scouts kept walking past me. No calls. No contracts. Nothing.
I thought it was politics. So I invested in coaching courses, networked with scouts, and asked them what they wanted. They all said the same things: control, passing, consistency, attitude.
But I already had those so what's the problem?
